Microblading FAQ

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is the process of implanting color pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of small, sterile, disposable needle to simulate the appearance of natural hair and creating the look of a fuller brow.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, it will fade over time and may need a touch-up every 1-2 years. Frequency of touch-ups depend on a number of factors including: The pigment color used (lighter color fades faster), lifestyle (sun exposer), Iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), and if any chemical peels come in contact with your brows. Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more powdery strokes on oily skin. I will evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary. Touch-ups are normal for any cosmetic tattooing procedure.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

Two treatments are usually needed, at least 6-8 weeks apart. Sometimes just one treatment is sufficient, but a touch-up appt. is offered at no cost if needed. With most procedures the color looks dramatically lighter after the first week. Some clients lie this, while others prefer a bolder look. At the second treatment, we will assess the color retention and make adjustments as necessary. If your Brows do not heal perfectly the first time, Do Not Worry! We can always go darker and add more density.

DOES MICROBLADING HURT?

Topical anesthetics are used to maximize your comfort during your procedure, however pain tolerance varies from client to client. Receiving your procedure during your menstrual cycle may increase your sensitivity.

WHAT KIND OF PIGMENT IS USED?

Unlike body tattoos, which pigments are made using Carbon based ink or older PMU techniques where pigments are a metallic dye base, the pigments I use are made with Iron Oxide as a base. These pigments are very safe to use and are created to fade over time.

WHAT FACTORS WILL AFFECT MY PROCEDURE?

-Excessive bleeding during the procedure will greatly affect how your body retains the pigment. While this is not entirely in our control, it is important that you follow the prep instructions!

-Smokers may notice faster fading

-Anemic or Iron deficient: your body will absorb these iron based pigments more quickly

-Sun exposer

-Color of pigment

IS MICROBLADING RIGHT FOR ME?

It is important to set up a consultation or email/text photos of brows to determine. The method is designed to blend with your natural brow hair, the more hair you have the more realistic results will appear. If you have very little or sparse brow hair results will appear more 2D, and it is possible you may need more than two sessions to achieve your desired result.

-Microblading is not meant to entirely replace makeup. Eyebrow pencils and powders may still be needed.

-Oily skin: Microblading heals best on normal to dry skin. It may not work well on oily skin or large pores. Increased oil production can cause hair strokes to blur and heal lighter and more powdery than expected.

-Mature skin: Tends to be thinner and more delicate which may increase the likelihood of bleeding and loss of pigment.

-Darker skin: There may be less contrast and visible detail in the hair strokes.

-Previously tattooed brows/ laser tattoo removal: Pervious tattooing must be nearly invisible. Scar tissue may affect pigment retention. A consultation is required!

- You Can Not recieve microblading if you are:

Pregnant or nursing.

Under 18yrs old.

Currently using Acutane or have used it within the last year.

Have a freshly tanned or sunburned face.

Are on blood thinning meds.

Have Roacea.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

About 2 hours. This includes the designing process, numbing the area and tattooing. Follow-up appointments usually take a little less time.

HOW WILL I LOOK IMMEDIATELY AFTER? WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS?

Your semi-permanent makeup will appear darker and bigger than expected for the first few days. This will gradually lighten during the complete healing process. Please view the detailed aftercare.
